Spotify is a great podcast for those who want to listen to music on the go. For about $10 USD a month you can get the Spotify premium subscription. This subscription allows you to download songs, so you can listen to music in places where there’s no service (airplane, rural area, sometimes office/school). If you get the premium subscription then it’s an excellent service with a lot of music you can’t find elsewhere.

Spotify has evolved from a repository of my personal favorites to something much more complex in recent years. The suggested songs “based on my playlist” and “enhance” feature have allowed me to find new interesting songs I hadn’t heard before. I do think the algorithm still tends to pigeon-hole me somewhat because I have a lot of 80’s and 90’s music. I don’t necessarily want to hear more 80’s and 90’s music, I lived through it and know what’s out there. There is just a lot of 80’s and 90’s music in my playlist because there was more good music then. Good music now as well, just fewer songs. Most are highly produced and market tested, not original.
All in all though, Spotify is great!
